I wish actors, writers and directors that just want to entertain would ban together and put an end to this nonsense.

1776 was just the beginning it lead the way to today's society and it seems the only ones who are unhappy with it are those at the top, those in charge, and those with money, I wonder why that is? I love Dan Brown books and I love the movies, I was looking forward to this series and once again someone was able to sneak in there disgusting opinions and ideals, and ruin another series. And just so you know without the 1776 flag there would've been no revolutionary war there would've been no Civil War, which ended slavery and then ultimately the civil rights movement which pushed the The constitutional rights of all American citizens, You can't just rewrite history and skip the parts you don't like, you have to look at Country's history as a whole and judge it by the mini landmark steps that it takes the rich history. Personal agendas have no place being in a series or a movie, especially a Dan Brown movie. We need a pass law to make it a crime that makes it illegal to put political ideology in a Non-political movie. I get it if you love the book but not the show (Ive felt that way about many Stephen King adaptations) but, come on.

Oh, just to have something to get on the ole soapbox and whine and cry about it. Based on Dan Brown’s international bestselling thriller The Lost Symbol, the series follows the early adventures of young Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy.

It's a work of fiction with some factual information and places thrown in some of them even tweaked to tell a fictional story. Following the worldwide successes of the first two films, Columbia Pictures began development on a film adaptation of The Lost Symbol. That's usually for those that are looking for one or complain because something doesn't align with THEIR beliefs, aka confirmation bias. I personally don't see a political agenda. Every profession requires time to "catch on". The decision to have a younger Langdon works for me as it gives us the opportunity to see him at a time where he's still learning, that he doesn't have all the answers at the drop of a hat. It's refreshing that they've slowed it down a bit. Yes, the books are fast paced, as are the movies made so far. I’ve read some of Dante’s Inferno and I’ve visited Florence so I’m keen to find out where Robert Langdon’s race against time takes him and how Brown incorporates the details of the Circles of Hell.Īlthough I didn’t read this to take part in the What’s in a Name Challenge I’ve realised that it does fit into the category of book with the word ‘ lost‘ in the title, making this the last book for me to complete the Challenge.I've read all of the books, and all but Origins more than once. And I do intend to read his next book Inferno. It did make me want to visit Washington D.C.

I don’t think it’s as good as either The Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons, but that may because the first had the novelty factor and the second is set in Rome, a place I’ve visited and know more about than Washington D.C. It helped that I read the Illustrated Edition on Kindle which has many photographs and illustrations and I kept checking facts on the computer too. It’s also packed with detail about the Freemasons, the art and architecture of Washington D.C., and Noetic Science – ‘a fusion of modern particle physics and ancient mysticism’, all of which was new to me and I found it fascinating.

It’s long and complicated, full of coincidences and improbable situations, all of which I had no trouble accepting, and a terrifying and crazy villain, Mal’ahk. Because it’s so formulaic I knew what to expect (although not the detail), it’s full of cliff-hangers and the characters are stereotypes.

They’re not great literature but they are great entertainment, even though this one follows the same formula – it’s a breathtaking race over 24 hours as Robert Langdon follows the clues, to rescue the his friend, Peter Solomon, a Mason. It is the third book in Browns series of Robert Langdon novels, following Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. I know lots of people criticise his writing but I find his books hard to put down once I’ve started reading them – I’ve read The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons as well as this one. For pure escapism I really like Dan Brown’s books. I read Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol back in July and never got round to writing about it at the time, so I’ve forgotten much of the detail.
